The Rio Indio Lodge embraces a perfect balance between comfort and adventure. Just minutes away from the Costa Rican and southern Nicaraguan border, this lost paradise is located in the Rio Maíz Biological Reserve. This vast area is filled with history, virgin jungles, wildlife and some of the best fishing imaginable.The main lodge, gourmet restaurant, guest cottages, swimming pool and bar are all connected by elevated walkways set in the jungle. Guest Cottages  You will enjoy the spacious and private 2-bed suites, crafted of  the finest hardwoods. Each is apportioned with comfortable queen beds, tiled bathrooms with hot water showers and a large screened-in porch. All of the guest cottages are positioned to optimize your privacy and enjoyment of the natural surroundings.

Main Lodge The main facility of Río Indio was hand crafted by renowned Nicaraguan artisans. The beautiful main building with its 40-foot central ceiling and Spanish tile floors is the centepiece of the lodge. The interior features an indoor tropical garden and fresh water aquariums. The front of the lodge has a wraparound covered porch that provides sweeping views of Captain Morgan’s Lagoon. The reception area, gourmet restaurant, lobby, conference room and one of two on-site bars are located here in the main structure.

Reception  This area is staffed from 8:00am to 6:00pm daily. Its staff will help you arrange any tours and activities you like, as well as answer any of your questions. The reception area is conveniently located to the left just inside the main entrance.

Restaurant    The restaurant will be a special part of your experience during your stay. All of your meals will be prepared from the freshest ingredients by gourmet chefs. Their skill and passion for cooking is evident in everything they serve. Fresh snapper, Langostinos, Chicken Cordon Bleu and amazing Ceviche (made from a secret recipe) are just some of the many tasty dishes that are created. Complimentary coffee, tea, juices and fresh fruits are always available for guests. Special need diets can be accommodated by informing the staff at check-in. All reservations at Río Indio include free meal service and rum bar.

 Infinity Pool  The outdoor infinity pool and patio affords relaxing views of Captain Morgan’s Lagoon and the old tower dredge of the 1849 Gold Rush. The Infinity Pool consists of 3,500 sq. feet, including a swim up bar, and is surrounded by plenty of pool deck for lounging. The area is landscaped with Bermuda grass, monkey feeding post and lush gardens. This is also a great bird watching area with wonderful views of the lagoon.  Bar  “ La Draga”  Located adjacent to the pool, “La Draga” is open daily from 2-12pm. After a long day of fishing, hiking or birding, stop in and have the bartender fix your favorite cocktail. There is also a pool table, board games, over-sized sofas, a large-screen high-definition TV with satellite service and DVDs available for your viewing pleasure.

Marina  The marina is located on the south side of the main lodge. The docks are covered to protect the boats and guests from the occasional jungle rain. All  offshore, fresh water and tour boats are housed here.The offshore boats are equipped to fish for Tarpon, Snook and Red Snapper. The fresh water boats are rigged for Snook, Rainbow Bass and Mujara Bream. The tackle room is equipped with 22 spinning reels/rods as well as 20 bait casting reels/rods for those that have a particular preference. All ocean fishing tackle is strung with 65 lb Power Pro braided line and the fresh water gear is strung with 30 lb Power Pro. An ice machine is located at the marina so you can keep your favorite beverages cold while enjoying your outing. The lodge provides all the necessary tackle to make for a successful day of fishing.
